Hi!
Welcome to my home site. As my cyberspace guest, perhaps
I should introduce myself to you, since it may well be that we do not
know each other personally. I am Raghu to my friends. While currently I am a full-time author, I have been an academic for
the significant part of my professional life, that is nearly two decades; a
banker for a while and in a CSR role thereafter until 2020. Since I have been doing a
lot of writing in the public domain, I also wear the hat of a Columnist. My latest book is The Lion, The Admiral and A Cat Called B. Uma Vijaylakshmi: Lessons from Life and Mnagement. The other books include, To Every Parent; To Every School: Raising Resilient Children in the VUCA World, Irrationally Rational (Penguin, 2022). Journey to Jammu (Harper Collins, 2018),
The Good Indian's Guide to Queue Jumping (Harper Collins, 2016), Beyond
the Call of Duty (Harper Collins, 2015), Duryodhana (Harper Collins,
2014), Games Indians Play (Penguin, 2006), Stock Exchanges, Investments and
Derivatives (co-authored, Tata McGraw Hill, 2007), Don't Sprint the Marathon
(Harper Collins, 2010), Corruption Conundrum (Penguin, 2010), Ganesha on the
Dashboard (Penguin 2012) and Locks, Mahabharata and Mathematics (Harper
Collins, 2013), among others.
My academic affiliation was with IIM, Ahmedabad
(1982-2001) as a Professor of Finance & Accounting and with SDA Bocconi
University, Milan, Italy, as a Visiting Professor from 1989 until 2015. My
banking association with ING Vysya Bank as its President lasted from from 2001
to 2004; and my corporate/Foundation role with the GMR Group as the CEO from 2005 to 2018.
I also headed the India Campus of Schulich School of Business, York University,
Toronto, Canada, from 2015 to 2020, where I am now an Adjunct Professor.
Collecting old and antique locks (as in pad locks) is my serious hobby. I have played chess at all India level and have done a bit of cartooning for a national daily briefly and some competitive sketching in the past.
Meena, a former Environment Educationist, a Community Services professional, an author as well as a Visiting faculty teaching governance, sustainability and ethics, is my best pal. She also happens to be my wife.
According to her, the secret of success of our marriage is that we see so
little of each other, since we both travel so much! I second that!
